Charming family townhouse near the Luxembourg gardens of Paris , a ray of freshness in the city …
This villa is a vintage town-house in the same leafy courtyard as Picasso’s Montparnasse studio. Five minutes’ walk from the Luxembourg Gardens, it is very central with easy access in mere minutes to all the sights via public transport literally at your door step.
A DUPLEX HOME WITH LIGHT, SPACE AND CHARM
This spacious, high-ceilinged, 2,000-sq-ft duplex drips with authentic Parisian charm. This charming villa is not a sterile “rental property”, but a cozy family home built 110 years ago. The bright and spacious 6-room duplex sleeps up to 8 persons on 4 double beds in 4 separate rooms.
THE ART OF LIVING WELL
The entire house is furnished with antiques and original period paintings, but with free hi-speed Wi-Fi and digital printer for your computers, i-Phones or tablets; cable TV with international channels; free telephone to land lines anywhere; stereo; fully equipped kitchen; central heating and ventilators for all rooms. Three rooms have working fireplaces which you are welcome to use.
A GUIDED VISIT
The 580-square-foot artist’s studio has 16-foot ceilings, a bibliophile’s library, and a huge music collection for every taste. Or you can make your own on our 1906 3/4-concert-grand piano (the same model Ravel used to compose his famous “Bolero”). One couche conveniently contains a very comfortable double bed.
A wall of heavy folding doors separates the artist’s studio from a big master bedroom with double bed overlooking the quiet garden. Imagine a cozy evening curled up in bed before a crackling fireplace.
A living/dining room is hung with original paintings by 19th century French minor masters, and is filled with antique “objects d’art”. The room has a working fireplace and a dining table for 8 persons in front of a full wall of French windows. A beautiful Chesterfield sofa hides a 5th double bed for 2 additional guests.
From the living/dining room, a pantry leads to an eat-in kitchen that comfortably seats 8 persons and is full of old-fashioned country charm, but with all the conveniences: dishwasher, washing machine with built-in drier, gas stove with oven, microwave, 2 toasters, every cooking utensil you could ever need, and a full stock of condiments, oils & vinegars, coffee, teas, flour, sugar, salt, etc. There is an adjoining WC in the hallway.
ONE FLIGHT UP THE OAK STAIRCASE there is a large bedroom with double bed and working fireplace overlooking the quiet courtyard/garden. The bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with full shower and washbasin.
Across the landing there is a smaller bedroom with a double bed, a closet and a rare baker’s box from the French Revolution. The room has a direct view into Picasso’s ex-studio where he did his first cubist work, a paper collage called The Guitar.
Finally, a family bathroom includes a large tub, full shower, toilet, twin washbasins, three hair dryers (don’t lug your own) and storage space full of extra towels and linens.
To resume :
– 3 bedrooms with 3 double beds
– one bedroom can be arranged in one of the living room (double sofa bed) this room has closing doors and has privacy .
– 2 double sofa beds are possible in the other living room .
– 2 bathrooms / showers
– garden in the back of the house
